Perhaps a very basic question:I noticed in some posts here and in the option list in the catalog about Dual Selective Control Valves (DSCV) and see there are 3rd and 4th valves, etc. available as well. Could someone please enlighten me as to how these are used/selected? Under what circumstances sould you desire more than two? Assuming I will have a front end loader and one 3 point implement on at a time, do I need the DSCV?Thanks for the feedback!Charlie

The dual selective control valve permits the operation of both actions of the loader - 1)raising and lowering the boom, 2)dumping and curling the bucket - with one lever that moves in four directions - front, back, left, right. This is very convenient since all loader work can be accomplished with one hand on one lever. I would recommend that if you are going to also have mid-mount mower, get the mid mount rocker arm cylinder since this decouples the mower height adjustment from the three point hitch height adjustment. ....

The new JD 4000 series (4200-4400) tractors require a third hydraulic control valve if you use a mid mount mower and loader at the same time. The hydraulic cylinder that lifts the mid mount mower attaches to a coupler at the rear of the tractor. If you have the dual valves that are required for the loader operation, and never were going to use the mower and loader at the same time, I suppose you could plug the hoses for the mower lift cylinder to the couplers on the right side of the tractor. The third control valve option is less than $200 on the 4000 tractors so probably is a good investment. It also gives you a valve and coupler in the rear of the tractor in the event you need it for other applications such as a log splitter, hydraulic dump cart,etc. ....

Charlie,The additional SCV's (selective control valves) are an option, and are used for providing hydraulic power to rear mounted attachments. Since a front-end loader (hooked up to the forward SCV's) is required if you are going to use a backhoe, you would need the additional SCV's for providing the hydraulic power to the backhoe. They could also be used for equipment such as pull-type "bat-wing" mowers, wheel discs, 3pt. hitch log splitters, etc. If you do not forsee yourself using items such as these, I wouldn't go to the expense of ordering them. They can always be installed at a later date if the need arises. I've bought and installed JD hydraulic kits and they are well engineered and complete (as you would expect from a JD product.)Hope this helps. ....
